The Friday evening session included the current and first Mi’kmaq poet laureate for Halifax, Rebecca Thomas, Halifax’s short story author Kris Bertin, and Newfoundland writer and icon of Canadian Literature Wayne Johnston. These three gave fantastic performances to an appreciative crowd of seventy. SSPL CEO Troy Myers was the master of ceremonies for the evening and Town of Lunenburg Mayor, Rachel Bailey, graciously welcomed everyone to Lunenburg.
Saturday morning began with the children’s “story mob” Using the Theresa E Connor as a backdrop a crowd of forty children, parents, and tourists were entertained by an interactive reading of Phoebe Gilman’s Grandma and the Pirates. Thanks to narrator MLA Suzanne Lohnes-Croft, Pirate Andrew Poplowski and cast, everyone enjoyed this TD Financial Group sponsored event.
